  1. Fyodor Dostoyevsky writes Crime and Punishment to expose and show how one mans actions can have such a large effect to a person mentally, emotionally, and mentally. The first part of the novel deals with the actual crime in the book, when Raskolinkov murders the pawnbroker and her sister. The rest of the book talks about the punishment for the actions committed, and how one persons motives that looks so pure to them can effect so many others
